Our place is something special.

We have 2 nice guest rooms, one with a private bath, and the other with a shared bath. We are located high in the clouds, in a quiet farming village, outside the mountainous coffee town of Atenas. Our home is located on the historic, cobblestone road once used by ox carts to haul coffee to the port in Puntarenas.




We overlook the valleys to the Pacific. Our view, of the Gulf of Nicoya, Nicoya Penninsula, and the Pacific ocean is incredible.



Our average temp is 77 degrees so air conditioning and heating is not needed!! Relax in our large, screened "View Room," watch the ships sail in and out, and enjoy the company of the loving animals here.



We are only about 30 minutes from the beaches and 40 minutes from the airport. We offer airport pickup for $30.00. We also offer tours to areas of interest.

We operate an animal rescue shelter and usually have many dogs, cats, and whatever other critter is in need of help at the time. We definitely have a dog or cat you could cuddle with if you're missing your own.You can visit our rescue blog at www.mrbudbud.blogspot.com

Taxi and bus service is available or, if we're going into town, you can ride with us.
If you have a car parking is free and secure.
We offer a continental breakfast of fruit, fruit juices and locally made sweet breads.
We have high speed wireless internet and computers available for you to use if you don't bring your own.
Free calls to the U.S. telephones using Skype.
We can also arrange for a rental car if you'd like.
We don't have a restaurant but you are welcome to use our kitchen if you'd like to prepare your own food. There are also many restaurants available in Atenas. Or, if you get lucky, I might cook for you!!
We also have a couch available and can make room for more with air mattresses in the View Room or your bedroom.

While you're here, enjoy a relaxing massage. We can arrange a one or two hour massage, with a view overlooking the valleys to the pacific, by a professional massage therapist for $25.00 per hour. Letting us know ahead of time is essential to assure an appointment.

We are simply a family who rescues unwanted or abused animals and we enjoy meeting other animal lovers!! We call our place Lighthouse Animal Rescue. Come join us and meet some great furkids. Your pets are welcome to come along as long as they are animal friendly, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccines.
